Curative catheter ablation has become the therapy of choice for symptomatic atrioventricular reentry tachycardias (AVRT) and atrial fibrillation (AF) especially for patients resistant to medication. The more precise an ablation catheter can be controlled the more efficient these complex ablation procedures can be performed. The Artis zee combined with the NIOBE^® system from Stereotaxis allows direct control of a magnetically enabled catheter or guidewire tip.

Increased efficiency and safety for ablation procedures has been our motivation for choosing this innovative technology. Since 2001, we have implemented the joint development with Stereotaxis, resulting in the monoplane and subsequently the biplane version of the Artis zee Magnetic Navigation.The two permanent magnets at the table side create a magnetic field of about 0.1 Tesla. Catheters and guidewires with a tiny magnet in their tip can be aligned with the software controlled direction of the magnetic field. Due to a motorized catheter advanced system, the complete mapping and ablation can be performed remotely from the control room.
