In the near future, more hospitals will consider expanding their cardiology services to electrophysiology. Not only is reimbursement more attractive for EP, but also the treatment methods have evolved in the last decade from antiarrhythmic drug therapy to nonpharmacological treatment using catheter ablation for selected patients.
We want to expand your possibilities by offering other choices in procedures. AXIOM Sensis XP, our entirely modular solution, is scalable to virtually all levels of EP recording and information management systems. The following scenarios show a few of the possibilities:
Scenario 1: Expand from interventional cardiology to EP studies
In the first scenario, your cardiology department wants to buy a recording system for a new lab. Initially, the lab will be used for interventional cardiology only but in the long-term EP procedures also will be planned. By using AXIOM Sensis XP, the decision is made to invest for security reasons. Starting with a hemodynamic recording system, you can easily extend the application later to electrophysiology with either 32, 64 or 128 intracardiac electrode inputs. Concurrently, the hemodynamic and EP application are running on the same system with one common database.
Scenario 2: Expand from diagnostic EP procedures to ablation therapy
In the second scenario, diagnostic EP procedures are part of the services you offer. In the future, you will be building a dedicated EP center offering high end EP therapy. Your best investment would be in our economic AXIOM Sensis XP with entry level EP application. The benefit of making this choice is that you can later upgrade up to 128 intracardiac electrode inputs and interfaces to the ablator and mapping system.
Scenario 3: Expand from recording to data management
In the third scenario, recording with the highest signal quality is not enough because you want to create comprehensive reports and perform data analysis. Your goal is to analyze the deviation of procedure types you perform, the patient demographics, the devices you use etc. The AXIOM Sensis XP is the better option because this information system automatically creates study reports including all data selected in the event log, waveforms and images. Also, the customized database can be analyzed with the statistic or material manager.
Scenario 4: Expand from recording to additional reporting & postprocessing workstations
In the fourth scenario, you are under a lot of pressure regarding patient coordination. This alternative provides you with the needed flexibility. A separate postprocessing workstation connected to your AXIOM Sensis XP recording system allows you to continue working on studies without interfering with the lab. You even have the ability to create reports on your laptop at home with the reporting software of the AXIOM Sensis XP.
Scenario 5: Expand from a single lab to a multilab solution
In the fifth scenario, you want to connect your lab with other EP labs or all labs of your cardiology department. AXIOM Sensis XP offers a client server structure with its powerful information system. Where one system represents the master, all other Sensis XPs can be connected to this regardless of hemodynamic or electrophysiology application.
Scenario 6: Expand from manual archiving to a network based solution
In the fifth scenario, you currently archive on CD, DVD or MOD but it is time- consuming. Similar to our syngo Dynamics, data archived in a cardiologic PACS can be accessed from all connected workstations in the hospital. Specifically, syngo Dynamics is not limited to the archiving of DICOM waveforms. Benefits include your EP studies being stored and reviewed with dynamic angio scenes or images from all other modalities including ultrasound and MR.
