Radioactive reference sources are necessary for quality assurance in PET systems for calibration and transmission measurements. Source sets, consisting of line sources and uniformity phantom(s) are available for the different types of scanner. Whereas line sources are used for transmission scans in order to correct the radiation absorbed by the patient's body, individual detectors are calibrated by uniformity phantoms and a weakly active rod source. The complete packages contain under one article number the different line sources and uniformity phantoms for the relevant PET scanner.
Thus the ordering complexity is reduced considerably. Special complete packages with a life of 3 years represent an inexpensive alternative to purchasing individual components.
