St. James’s Institute of Oncology, part of St. James’s University Hospital in Leeds affectionately known as ‘Jimmy’s’, has recently installed a MAGNETOM® Aera 1.5 Tesla MRI system from Siemens Healthcare. The hospital is one of Europe’s largest teaching hospitals, and the St. James's Institute of Oncology contains 10 floors dedicated to some of the best treatment for cancer patients available anywhere in the world. The new MAGNETOM Aera installation has joined two existing Siemens MRI systems at the hospital and replaced a legacy Siemens MRI setup. The new system is handling high-end dynamic imaging including breast procedures, biopsies and liver imaging. More

Spire Little Aston, of the Spire Healthcare Group, in Sutton Coldfield has installed a MAGNETOM® Aera 1.5T MR system from Siemens Healthcare. The hospital is now using the system, which replaces a previous generation Siemens MAGNETOM Symphony, for a wide range of MR imaging including neurological, orthopaedic, routine abdominal and cardiac services. Siemens Healthcare has presented the MAGNETOM® Prisma MRI system at the 98th Congress of the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) 2012 with planned European availability in the second half of 2013. The 3-Tesla MAGNETOM Prisma will offer a new level of MRI imaging, combining high gradient strength and fast gradient slew rates. More

University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (UCLH), recently hosted a UK first PET MR study day in conjunction with Siemens Healthcare. A wide range of delegates attended the day course, including a number of radiologists, physicists, MR radiographers and MI radiographers. The knowledge session provided an introduction and overview of PET MR innovative technology, outlining its potential clinical and research applications. More

The Clinical Imaging Facility at Swansea University’s Institute of Life Science (ILS) has recently installed a MAGNETOM® Skyra 3 Tesla MRI system from Siemens Healthcare at its state-of-the-art research centre. The ILS Phase Two development was officially opened by the First Minister of Wales, The Rt. Hon Carwyn Jones, who viewed the Siemens Healthcare system during his visit to the pioneering medical research facilities. More
