Pilgrim Hospital in Boston, part of United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust, has cut waiting lists, increased workflow efficiency and is gaining detailed images following the installation of a MAGNETOM® Avanto 1.5 Tesla MRI system from Siemens Healthcare. The hospital is now able to perform peripheral angiography, whole body imaging and will soon be conducting MR mammography. More

The Royal Marsden Foundation Trust has installed a MAGNETOM® Aera 1.5 Tesla MRI system from Siemens Healthcare in its Sutton site. It is being used for a wide range of clinical imaging including brain, spine, abdominal, pelvic and breast procedures, with plans for the hospital to expand its use to MRI-guided intervention in the future. Located in the Department of Radiology, the system will operate alongside an existing Siemens system, the MAGNETOM Avanto 1.5 Tesla. More

The Royal Hospital for Sick Children in Glasgow, part of NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, has installed a MAGNETOM® Avanto 1.5 Tesla from Siemens Healthcare. The system featuring Tim (Total imaging Matrix) will enable the hospital to streamline its MRI examinations by providing whole body paediatric scans without the need to reposition the patient or for coil changes. Royal Glamorgan Hospital, part of the Cwm Taf Health Board, has installed a MAGNETOM® Aera 1.5 Tesla MRI system from Siemens Healthcare. The system was recently opened by Lesley Griffiths, Minister for Health and Social Services in the Welsh Assembly. It will be used for a wide range of examinations including whole body imaging, whole body diffusion weighted imaging, non-contrast angiography, enterography and breast biopsy. More

Staff at the Hospital of St John and St Elizabeth, one of the UK’s largest independent charity hospitals, are celebrating the installation of a MAGNETOM® Skyra 3 Tesla MRI system from Siemens Healthcare. The system has been installed in the Imaging Department and was officially unveiled by Medical Director Dr. David Grant and Professor Alan McGregor. The new facility was dedicated to the memory of Radiologist Ginny McGregor, a visionary of 3T MRI who worked at the Hospital until she died in 2007 of cancer aged 44. More

University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (UCLH), supported by the UCLH Charity, has placed the first UK order of the Biograph™ mMR system from Siemens Healthcare. The system, which is the same size as a typical 3T MRI scanner, is designed for the simultaneous acquisition of MR morphological and functional details in human tissue and PET cellular activity. It is the only system available on the market that combines the functionality of the two modalities into a single integrated solution. More

Siemens Healthcare has presented its latest innovations for imaging and diagnostics at the European Congress of Radiology (ECR) 2011. The Institute of Life Science (ILS) at Swansea University has selected a MAGNETOM® Skyra 3 Tesla MRI and a SOMATOM® Definition AS+ CT scanner to enable advanced medical imaging capabilities in its new state-of-the-art research centre. The partnership between Swansea University and Siemens Healthcare was announced at the recent topping out ceremony for the new phase two building.
