Tarrytown, NY., February 3, 2012 – The Siemens Healthcare Diagnostics Mycophenolic Acid assay (MPAT) is now available for use on the company’s portfolio of Dimension® Integrated Chemistry Systems in the U.S. With this addition, the company becomes the first laboratory diagnostics solutions provider in the nation to offer the consolidation of four fully automated immunosuppressant drug (ISD) assays on a single integrated chemistry system. The four ISD tests—mycophenolic acid, cyclosporine, tacrolimus and sirolimus—are the most commonly prescribed immunosuppressants used by physicians to prevent organ rejection. Now, they can be run simultaneously with routine chemistry tests on the Dimension systems, enabling more comprehensive care for transplant patients. More

The nomag IC enables newborns and premature babies to be examined after birth with magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) via optimal, noninvasive diagnostics. The incubator facilitates safe, convenient transport from the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) to the MRI department with an MR-conditional trolley, MR-conditional gas and power supply, and attendant conditional accessories. This latest version of the ACUSON SC2000 system – Siemens’ pioneering premier echocardiography system – elevates volume imaging in echocardiography to a new level, delivering significant performance and imaging enhancements to improve workflow and patient outcomes. Release 2.0 offers a host of new applications, including the quantification of the 3D proximal isovelocity surface area (PISA) to assess the severity of valvular disease and volumetric color Doppler. Other applications include a comprehensive package for automated left ventricle analysis (LVA), which enables the auto-detection and tracking of volume contours, and Siemens’ exclusive IN Focus coherent image-forming technology, which yields a high level of image uniformity and clinical detail. Malvern, Pa., December 5, 2011 – Siemens Healthcare announced the winners of its 2011 International CT Image Contest at the 97th Scientific Assembly and Annual Meeting of the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA), November 27 to December 2 in Chicago. More than 160 institutes and hospitals from 43 countries on all continents submitted over 600 computed tomography (CT) images – all captured on Siemens CT scanners using the lowest possible radiation dose. Selected by an international jury of experts, the seven winners – which were displayed at RSNA ’11 – hail from China, England, France, Ireland, Macau, Singapore and the U.S. In addition to exhibiting a high standard of quality, the images are impressive examples of how valuable diagnostic information can be obtained even at an extremely low dose.
