To give medical professionals more time to take better care of their patients, our new FAST CARE technology accelerates workflow and lowers radiation exposure to previously unseen levels, thus levering untapped potential in patient-centric productivity.
Be FAST
FAST - our Fully Assisting Scanner Technologies - make time-consuming and complex procedures faster as well as far more intuitive. They make scanning more reproducible and less prone to errors. For example, preparing an anatomically correct reconstruction of the whole spine now takes only 30 seconds, compared to 30 minutes when doing it manually.
Take CARE
CARE - our Combined Applications to Reduce Exposure - give you excellent image quality at the lowest possible dose. To make CT safer, especially for the most delicate patients, e. g. children.
Together with syngo.via, FAST CARE for all Patients makes the complete examination, from scan preparation to data evaluation, even more streamlined, ensuring a highly-reliable diagnosis with the least patient burden.
With FAST CARE, the new SOMATOM Definition Flash and the new SOMATOM Definition AS are set to raise the standard of patient-centric productivity.
Every patient is different and consequently every CT examination has individual and specific requirements to achieve the optimum clinical outcome. These vary from institution to institution, even from physicist to physicist. Today, much valuable time and expertise of medical professionals is spent preparing the scan and the image reconstruction in order to achieve reliable and reproducible clinical outcomes.
With the unique FAST features, this complexity is eliminated by assisting radiologists and techs in planning and preparing the examination, giving them more time to focus on what is crucial, i.e. the diagnosis of the pathology and the interaction with the patient.
Utilizing FAST innovations, typically time consuming and complex procedures during the scan process are extremely simplified and automated, not only improving workflow efficiency, but optimizing the overall clinical outcome by creating reproducible results, making diagnosis more reliable and reducing patient burden through streamlined examinations.
Especially worried and uncertain patients (as most of them are), will appreciate the shorter waiting time until their physician appears to discuss their situation and the additional time they can then spend together assessing the diagnosis and associated therapy options.
Applying the lowest radiation dose possible is of utmost importance for both the reading physician and patients. Consequently and with continued efforts and investment into highest dose protection, Siemens again spearheads the industry and introduces new and groundbreaking CARE features.
From the earliest days, Siemens has developed many significant products and protocols that follow the “As Low as Reasonably Achievable” (ALARA) principle to reduce radiation dose to the lowest possible level. This desire for as little radiation exposure as possible lies at the heart of our CARE research and development philosophy. Over the years, Siemens has been highly successful in integrating many innovations into the Siemens scanners that significantly reduce radiation dose in comparison to other systems available on the CT market.
For example, the Adaptive Dose Shield introduced in 2007, Flash Spiral imaging launched in 2008 and IRIS – Iterative Reconstruction in Image Space – in 2009. With FAST CARE, Siemens now opens the next chapter in its pursuit to defining Low Dose CT. And we introduce the first raw-data-based iterative reconstruction, SAFIRE* – Sinogram Affirmed Iterative Reconstruction.
