The Siemens booth helped laboratorians turn their ideas into reality at this year’s American Association for Clinical Chemistry (AACC) Expo in Chicago, July 21 – 23. From new products to a variety of educational offerings, Siemens brought this year’s AACC/ASCLS attendees the latest in diagnostics products, service and thought leadership.
Through Siemens unique concierge program, customers could pre-select individual areas of interest and receive a customized booth tour and product information. New products featured at AACC included the Dimension Vista® 500 Intelligent Lab System, which offers a test menu of more than 115 assays. Test panels on the Dimension Vista 500 System include anemia, cardiac disease, thyroid disorders, therapeutic drug monitoring, protein testing, drugs-of-abuse testing, and routine and specialty chemistry testing—all from a single patient sample.
Also featured at AACC was the CLINITEK® AUWi Automated Urinalysis Workcell System, combining two of the most widely used and reliable urine analyzers, the CLINITEK Atlas Automated Urine Chemistry Analyzer and the Sysmex UF-1000i™ Urine Cell Analyzer. With a common sample track and workflow management software, this new system offers true walkaway automated urinalysis, from chemistry to microscopy.
Additionally, interactive touch-screen walls highlighted the breadth of Siemens assay menu, including INNOVANCE® D-Dimer, an aid in the diagnosis of deep vein thrombosis. Customers could touch a picture of an instrument on the large LCD screens and see all of the assays available on that particular system. During Siemens-sponsored workshops, thought leaders highlighted the latest tools to aid in the early identification and treatment of sepsis, emerging trends in automated testing for infectious disease, and the financial crisis and healthcare reform. In-booth presentations featured the growing incidence of heart disease in women; advancements in the use of diagnostics to aid the management of liver disease; and a new Disney children’s book to educate parents and children about allergy testing, “Mickey and the Giant Kachoo!”
