The Siemens Healthcare mobile mammography roadshow is now successfully en-route across England, Scotland, and Wales visiting nearly 500 mammographers, radiographers, consultant radiologists, engineers, and technicians. The fully equipped, purpose-built trailer, the so called Mammo Trailer, demonstrates the entire spectrum of Siemens’ digital mammography solutions for mobile screening.
Information and fascination
An on-site visit provides radiographers with the opportunity to see equipment that they may be using in the future. The visit from the Siemens and National Health Service (NHS) Supply Chain teams also provided people who are making the purchasing decisions with all the information they need to make informed choices. The entire breast care continuum is previewed inside the trailer and includes the MAMMOMAT® Inspiration Full Field Digital Mammography system, stereotactic biopsy module, and syngo® MammoReport workstation for workflow needs including data transfer to PACS.
“Siemens Healthcare has been working with the NHS Supply Chain since its conception, and we are delighted to have teamed up for the mobile mammography venture,” states Steve Holmes, National Sales Manager for Siemens Healthcare. “The aim of the tour is to demonstrate how easy it is to kit out mobile vehicles with the latest digital mammography technology and still enable seamless IT integration back into the radiology department to deliver prompt diagnosis and the highest standard of patient care.” Siemens is also working with WH Bence Coachworks, specialists in healthcare and emergency vehicles, to fully demonstrate the patient-centric build that is possible for the future of digital mammography screening vehicles. Mammo Trailer is able to offer this life-saving service close to the home of the patients, giving a positive effect to their motivation. The digital technology allows a highly precise diagnosis via high quality imaging and better postprocessing combined with a significantly reduced radiation. “Shortly, every hospital will be moving to digital mammography, and the Siemens roadshow provides a proactive opportunity for all levels of hospital staff to see firsthand how the digital systems work and understand anticipated benefits,” states Emma Dunn, Buyer, Clinical Equipment at NHS Supply Chain.
