Siemens’ International Reference Centers for magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) offer future customers an opportunity to experience the system that interests them in a clinical setting before actually purchasing it. What makes reference centers so unique is that prospective customers can learn from other customers who have already experienced or are currently using the system. In this regard, customers are able to get an idea of how daily work could potentially be processed with the system in a clinical surrounding and are able to undergo clinical routines. The first Siemens International Reference Center dedicated to the MAGNETOM® Aera MRI – the high-end 1.5 Tesla system with the integrated coil technology Tim® (Total imaging matrix) 4G and the most comprehensive MRI workflow solution DotTM (Day optimizing throughput) – has been established in Münster, Germany at St. Franziskus Hospital.
In the course of renovation in 2010, Christoph Bremer, MD, PhD, and his team at St. Franziskus Hospital Münster, Germany, chose to equip their radiology department with advanced MRI technology - the decision was made in favor of the MAGNETOM Aera 1.5 Tesla system. The scanner not only supports a full range of applications, but also guides therapy at the hospital providing high quality medical care. Bremer’s team was able to quickly integrate the new system into their clinical workflow and use the broad portfolio of clinical applications that is provided by MAGNETOM Aera. The Radiology Department at St. Franziskus Hospital serves various specialities within the hospital on MR angiography, neuroimaging, breast exams, oncological exams, and cardiac MRI, all of which can be performed by the recently added Siemens system.
As the new Siemens International Reference Center for MAGNETOM Area, the hospital now has the opportunity to share its clinical achievements and workflow advancements with radiologists and interested parties from around the globe. Bremer and his team are looking forward to sharing their clinical insights gained with MAGNETOM Aera, as well as the workflow benefits gained with the Tim 4G integrated coil technology and Dot productivityenhancing technology. Bremer concludes, “As a partner, Siemens understands our clinical and workflow demands. With MAGNETOM Aera, we are confident we have one of the most advanced 1.5T MRI systems available on the market today.”
