Pinehill Hospital installed a digital fluoroscopy system with flat detector with the goal of reducing procedure time and, in turn, increasing patient throughput. With the installation of the AXIOM® Luminos dRF system, the private hospital based in Hertfordshire (a county directly north of London), UK, was able to achieve just that. The system – selected for its digital capabilities thanks to its innovative flat detector, enhanced flexibility, and compatibility with PACS – has aided with improving patient throughput. The clinicians attribute this to reduced procedure time with the digital system as compared to the previous analog system. Chessty Muntanga, the Radiology Manager at Pinehill Hospital, states, “The imaging process of the system has reduced procedure time by as much as 50 percent. This has had a dramatic effect on the number of patients we treat.”
The AXIOM Luminos dRF digital fluoroscopy system is used at Pinehill Hospital for urinary tract examinations, such as cystograms and intravenous urograms (IVUs), and for arthrography imaging to enhance joint procedures such as hip or knee replacements. This offers clinicians flexibility, easing procedures for themselves and reducing anxiety in patients. At the same time, the innovative design greatly reduces the amount of dose submitted to patients during examinations.
