When put to the test during the 19th Annual National Football League Scouting Combine in the United States, Siemens imaging equipment scored big. The Football Combine brings together college juniors and seniors from across the United States hoping to be drafted to professional football teams. Held annually in Indianapolis since 1987, the event enables select coaches to evaluate potential players based on their abilities on and off the field. During this week-long evaluation, candidates are subjected to a series of physical exams and diagnostic testing.
At the 2008 Combine, physicians at Clarian Methodist Hospital tested approximately 350 college players dreaming of landing a spot in the professional football draft, relying on the optimal performance and superb image quality of Siemens imaging systems. For five days, the Siemens digital X-ray worked virtually non-stop as physicians conducted approximately 1,900 general and diagnostic tests on the athletes. Nearly 10,000 images were captured, the majority with Siemens AXIOM® Aristos MX - the latest in flat detector-based digital radiography X-ray technology, recognized for its optimized workflow, high patient throughput, and quality performance.
Clarian Methodist Hospital has hosted this event and utilized Siemens imaging technology from the very beginning in 1987. John R. Dickey, the hospital’s Manager of Diagnostic Radiology, recognizes the ability of the AXIOM Aristos MX to service a high volume of patients in a limited time frame, while providing superb quality images – a significant factor in why the scouting event is held at the facility year after year.
