The manual production of diagnostic test results requires a great deal of time and labor. Automating certain steps in this process can improve efficiency and quality of operations, thus reducing the time that it takes to produce these test results. Siemens Healthcare Diagnostics introduced three new clinical laboratory automation solutions to aid in the elimination of manual processes performed by laboratory personnel.
ADVIA Centaur® XP Immunoassay System has the capability to connect to the VersaCell™ System, an automation system offering advanced sample management and sorting capabilities, thus maximizing the number of tests run on one workcell and improving the efficiency of operations. Using the VersaCell system, customers with high test volumes can connect ADVIA Centaur XP systems to IMMULITE® Immunoassay Systems to access a wide range of routine and specialty immunoassays. Customers with mid-to-high levels of test volumes can connect an ADVIA Centaur XP system to an ADVIA® 1800 Chemistry System to gain access to a broader menu of immunochemistry and chemistry tests.
A decapper module was introduced to pair with the ADVIA® LabCell® and the ADVIA WorkCell® Automation Systems. The conjunction of these systems reduces manual labor connected with processing patient samples by automating the removal of test tube caps.
FDA (Food and Drug Administration) Clearance was given to Siemens for the connection of the ADVIA Centaur XP system with the StreamLAB® Analytical Workcell. This combination of a high-speed immunoassay system and a scalable, open-architecture automation system creates efficiencies for laboratories.
