On December 8th, 2009, Siemens Healthcare and a world’s leading provider of business software SAP AG (SAP) signed an agreement whereby SAP will resell in selected target markets the Siemens Healthcare IT systems i.s.h.med®* – a leading hospital information system (HIS) for the clinical setting that helps healthcare providers to improve efficiency, contributing to improved patient care – and the management information system i.c.m.health®*. The new partnership enables healthcare providers to select comprehensive, efficiency-building software solutions all from one source.
The clinical information and workplace system i.s.h.med is integrated into the SAP for Healtcare solution portfolio and based on the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system by SAP. By supporting clinical as well as care functions, i.s.h.med supports employees in around 300 hospitals in 18 countries during their individual working processes. Also, a flexible system configuration allows quick reactions to changing conditions, thus ensuring security of investment. Additionally, i.c.m.health, a management information system and integrated reporting system based on the SAP Business Warehouse and integrated into i.s.h.med, offers a set of specific planning tools, enabling the early identification of undesirable developments.
Through the new reseller agreement, healthcare providers will have simplified access to innovative information systems that link administrative and controlling functions with clinical processes, thus helping customers profit from greater efficiencies and enhance enterprise, customer, and employee satisfaction. Janet Dillione, CEO, Health Services, Siemens Healthcare, further explains: “With this new reseller agreement and via SAP’s presence in key target markets, together we can deliver a comprehensive range of solutions that contribute toward improved healthcare worldwide.”
“The current stimulus programmes in many countries around the world confirm that information technology is seen as vitally important means of modernizing healthcare services, because it forms the foundation of cost containment and quality of care,” says John Papandrea, senior vice president of the Healthcare industry business unit at SAP. “Information systems that enable improvements in both business and clinical functions play an essential role in improving, above all, efficiency and quality. With the expansion of our engagement, SAP and Siemens are well prepared for the requirements of the future.”
