The first Ysio - the fully automated digital radiography solution from Siemens - was installed on May 20, 2008 at Landeskrankenhaus Steyr (County Hospital of Steyr), Austria. In September of 2008, only four months after the installation, the radiological department has acquired over 5,000 images. The department provides imaging service for the Landeskrankenhaus Steyr and another medical center in Enns, Austria and is highly satisfied with its new digital solution. The annual radiographic workload of approximately 39,000 imaging procedures for inpatients and 70,000 for outpatients can now be accomplished quickly and conveniently.
The installation of the fully automated Ysio provides handling flexibility for the radiology department. The system is equipped with an integrated 43 x 43 centimeter detector in the wall stand and a 35 x 43 centimeter wireless mobile detector (wi-D) in the table which can be used for bucky table imaging or for free exposures. Additionally, this new solution combines enhanced workflow with imaging excellence through automated tube movements, wireless detector technology and a color touchscreen control on the tube.
The performance of the new digital radiography system was put to the test as soon as it was installed. On the first day, the team performed their first study, a supine chest examination with the wi-D. Both the image quality and the easy handling of the wi-D were highly appreciated. Within the first months in use, the radiography team reports high satisfaction with the Ysio’s introduction into their daily routine.
