For the first time, Siemens Healthcare wins the Techno-College Innovation Award for the development of the syngo® Aortic ValveGuide.1 This award celebrates innovations which represent advances in cardio-thoracic surgery and was presented by the European Association of Cardio-Thoracic Surgery (EACTS).
Improved imaging and guidance of aortic valve implants
The new imaging application software improves planning and performing of transcatheter aortic valve implantations (TAVI) for cardiologists and cardiac surgeons. syngo Aortic ValveGuide automatically segments a 3D image of the aortic root and highlights anatomical reference points such as the coronary ostia. During the implantation, the technology uses intra-operative CT-like sectional images from the angiography system. This 3D image is superimposed with the two-dimensional fluoroscopy images, which allows the physician to orient him/herself in real time and in three dimensions within the patient's body while navigating the new aortic valve to its intended position.
