The Laboratorio Médico del Chopo, Mexico, a leader in medical diagnostics, partners with Siemens to provide outstanding service to patients and referring physicians. They rely on Siemens as its ultrasound system vendor of choice. Laboratorio Médico del Chopo has recently begun replacing legacy ultrasound systems with ACUSON X Class ultrasound systems to ensure its clinical professionals have access to the latest technology platforms. Siemens’ after-sales support and clinical education teams have helped them build a reputation as a leader in medical diagnostics among referring physicians, patients, and its own staff.
Benchmarking in medical diagnostic services
Since its founding more than 60 years ago, the Laboratorio Médico del Chopo has committed to fulfill an unmet need for advanced medical diagnostic services in Mexico. Today, the center is a leader in medical diagnostics covering a wide range of clinical services from ultrasound, X-rays, and nuclear medicine to other diagnostic and lab-related services. Recent investments are the ACUSON X150TM and ACUSON X300TM premium edition (PE) ultrasound systems together with five-year service contracts. The Siemens X Class systems cover a spectrum of imaging cases from obstetrics and gynecology, to gastrointestinal and cardiology imaging. “Ensuring that we have advanced, highly reliable medical platforms with the right mix of capabilities for each of our locations is a top priority for Laboratorio Médico del Chopo,” said Chief Executive Officer of Laboratorio Médico del Chopo, Roberto Jiménez Garcia, MD.
A successful partnership
More than 40 percent of the Laboratorio Médico del Chopo’s ultrasound platforms are now Siemens. The center acquired its first Siemens platform in 2005 and the number of Siemens ultrasound systems has steadily grown. “We were extremely satisfied with our first generation of Siemens’ SONOLINETM ultrasound systems, which made the continuation of our partnership with Siemens a very easy decision as we’ve moved to replace legacy equipment,” said Pedro Zarate, MD, the center’s Medical Director.
According to Garcia, another major asset of Laboratorio Médico del Chopo is its clinical education: “We also have made a significant investment in providing clinical education outreach to our physicians and sonographers to assure we’re attracting top medical talent to uphold our brand reputation and provide excellent service to our patients and referring physicians.” The collaborative relationship with the Siemens Mexico Sales Team helped make this possible. Siemens’ clinical application specialists provide on-site training for the center’s professionals on new imaging applications and capabilities. Siemens also contributes clinical speakers, demo ultrasound systems, and applications specialists at the center’s clinical seminars. Many physicians and care providers cite these educational outreach efforts as one of the reasons they have chosen to work for Laboratorio Médico del Chopo. “Our partnership is about more than ultrasound platforms and imaging technology. It’s about quality relationships, great patient care, and continuous innovation and learning,” said Garcia.
