Among women, breast cancer is the most common cause of cancer death. Each year nearly 180,000 women in the United States are diagnosed with breast cancer. More than 40,000 a year die from this disease*.
In March 2007, the American Cancer Society recommended MR as a screening tool for a certain group of women with high generic risk. Even before this announcement, MR breast examination showed a 40%** increase per year, further growth is expected over the next years.
The excellent diagnostic image quality, easy siting, and affordable price point make
MAGNETOM® ESSENZA a superb solution to meet the increased clinical demand for breast MR.
The MAGNETOM ESSENZA comes standard with syngo® VIEWS, Siemens breast imaging technique. syngo VIEWS is a 3D, axial, simultaneous, near-isotropic breast protocol with high spatial and temporal resolution. Siemens flexible VIEWS technique acquires the images in one plane for complete lesion access. Data can even be reconstructed into mammographic correlating planes such as the CC or MLO.
With Siemens flexible syngo VIEWS technique, it is possible to acquire images in one plane and to reconstruct images in any plane with almost no loss in resolution. The images shown in Figure 1-3 have been acquired from the same patient in different planes and demonstrate the flexibility of syngo VIEWS. Siemens MAGNETOM systems have the ability to acquire simultaneous bilateral images either in the sagittal or axial plane while maintaining spatial and temporal resolution.
MAGNETOM ESSENZA comes standard with the following features for comprehensive breast imaging:
Siemens offers the 4-Element Breast Matrix Coil as an option for MAGNETOM ESSENZA, enabling excellent signal-to-noise ratio for high-resolution diagnostic imaging. Equipped with Siemens Tim technology, MAGNETOM ESSENZA is fully capable of both diagnostic breast imaging and whole-body staging, helping increase diagnostic confidence.
