FDG Utilisation

* Absorbed into the cells of the body by the same processs as glucose via the trasnport enzyme, hexokinase

* Once inside the cell membrane it is not actually metabolised for energy 

* The FDG is trapped inside the cell where it is retained in proportion to the rate of glycosis

Normal Distribution Pattern

Show's evidence of uptake in the urinary, hepatic and skeletal systems, with some soft tissue and cardiact activity.

Abnormal Distribution Pattern

In addition to normal activity there is a hypermetabolic focus in the upper torso, shown by the arrow.
