Getting Started With IMRT
Course ID: TH8IMRT

The Getting Started With IMRT course is a 3-day course that will provide the participant with a hands-on overview of the different steps and elements to implement a clinical IMRT program, based upon the Siemens IMRT approach. By the end of this course, the participant will have the knowledge and skills for the practical implementation of an IMRT program.

Prerequisites

Knowledge of the English language with emphasis on technical terminology

Understanding and experience in 3D conformal radiation therapy

Knowledge on RTP planning techniques in IMRT

Who Should Attend?

This course is primary intended for medical physicists, but depending on the clinical workflow of each institution the dosimetrists and/or radiation oncologists will benefit from it as well.

General Information about the IMRT technique

The Siemens IMRT workflow

Dosimetric and QA equipment needed for IMRT

Calibration of the Primus linear accelerator for IMRT conditions (low MU, linearity, MLC, etc.)

Connectivity with the different treatment planning systems

Overview of data collection for the IMRT option on the different treatment planning systems

IMFAST sequencing and optimization algorithm - theory and application

Review of the treatment planning process

Plan export from treatment planning system to recording and verifying system

Plan and treatment delivery QA

Linear accelerator QA

Imaging modalities for IMRT
