syngo REVEAL is a diffusion weighted
imaging tool based on Echo Planar
Imaging and can be combined with
the free-breathing PACE (Prospective
Acquisition CorrEction technique*).
As the diffusion coefficient of the
metastasis and primary tumors changes compared to normal
tissue, syngo REVEAL uses diffusion
contrast in the body in order
to improve differential diagnosis.
In the abdominal region, studies indicate
that benign lesions such as hemangiomas
and focal nodular hyperplastic cysts
show ADC coefficients. And malignant
lesions such as hepatocellular carcinomas
or metastases have a reduced ADC
compared to benign lesions such as
hemangiomas and focal nodular
hyperplastic cysts. Malignant lesions also
tend to have a marked decrease in ADC
compared to inflammatory processes.
These observations may apply not only to
the abdomen but also to the rest of the
body such as the pelvis, thorax, and more.
Lesions can be small and multi-focal.
With syngo REVEAL at b-values of 800
and more, potential lesions are bright
and easily distinguishable as the
background is suppressed. The highlighted
potential lesions can then easily be
checked on images with other contrasts.
With its low b-values (sometimes called
Dark Blood REVEAL with b ~ 50 s/mm2),
as well as higher b-values (typically
1,000 s/mm2) syngo REVEAL can be used
to obtain quantitative ADC maps by using
Inline Technology for automatic ADC
calculation at the end of the scan.
syngo REVEAL images can also be either
inverted to produce a PET-like contrast or
can be colorized and fused onto anatomical
images using syngo Image Fusion.
syngo REVEAL works together
with GRAPPA, Siemens unique
Parallel Imaging algorithm which
reduces susceptibility artifacts
that might otherwise compromise
image quality.
Now more than ever, all will be
revealed to you with syngo REVEAL.
