Oncology Service Essentials 1
Course ID: TH2OSE 1
Oncology Service Essentials 1 (OSE1) begins by establishing the basic “big-picture” and hardware foundation that a Customer Service Engineer (CSE) must have to serve the customer and benefit most from continuing technical training. Example topics include an introduction to cancer, an orientation to various product applications and configurations, product specific safety and Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) training, the physics behind radiation therapy, and a tour of the factory.
After completing the fundamentals section, the CSE focuses on learning skills that enable him or her to verify and fix the most common Linac faults, as well as understand the Multileaf Collimator (MLC), the ZXT and 550TxT tables, and software tools, such as MSU and EPACT. The CSE will complete most periodic maintenance and calibration checks for Linear Accelerator, and the 58-leaf and 82-leaf MLC. The maintenance and calibration tasks for the ZXT and 550TxT tables will be discussed, and practical exercises completed. This course emphasizes a hands-on approach to learning. OSE1 is not a troubleshooting and repair course for MLC or the tables, but does present information useful in fault isolation for those assemblies.
This course is designed for Siemens new hire Customer Service Engineers (CSEs) and for external biomedical service engineers.
