81-year-old Frederic Linder is undergoing radiation therapy at the UCSF Comprehensive Cancer Center for prostate cancer and, with help from a new tumor imaging technology used by his physicians, he is hoping for a quicker and safer recovery.
Linder’s physicians are treating him with MVision™ from Siemens Medical Solutions, which provides three-dimensional images of a patient’s entire anatomy just prior to radiation therapy treatments. With MVision, physicians can pinpoint radiation doses to treat tumors more precisely than with traditional two-dimensional images, while sparing healthy tissue. This can mean a quicker and safer recovery for patients.
“I feel absolutely nothing. I have no side-effects,” says Linder about his treatments. “In fact, from here I usually go to the ‘Y’ to work out a little bit.”
