Siemens Scholarship Award Information
The Siemens Scholar Award, given by the Foundation and the Oncology Care Systems Group of Siemens Medical Solutions, is designed to assist American Society of Radiologic Technologists (ASRT) members who are radiation therapists and are pursuing a baccalaureate or graduate degree in the radiologic or health sciences, education or management.
This year’s recipient of the $3,000 scholarship is Larry Swafford, R.T. (R)(T), of Richmond, Calif., who is enrolled in a doctoral degree program in education at Virginia Commonwealth University.
“An earned doctorate is an important part of my career aspiration because it will provide me with the knowledge base and analytical skills for teaching and conducting research that is relevant to my profession,” said Mr. Swafford. “While I take great pride in my educational and professional accomplishments, there is still much to do. The Siemens Scholarship is greatly appreciated, as it will allow me to continue in my professional and educational developments.”
“The Foundation continually seeks new ways to support radiologic technologists who have the drive and desire for professional development through an advanced degree,” said Sal Marino, Foundation chief operating officer. “The Foundation sincerely appreciates the corporate support from businesses such as Siemens. These contributions strongly demonstrate the commitment these companies have to the imaging profession and patient care by making sure students like Mr. Swafford have an opportunity to pursue an advanced degree.”
