Product FAQs

What is MAGNETOM Concerto?

With the introduction of the MAGNETOM Open and now the MAGNETOM Concerto, Siemens medical engineering has set new standards in patient-friendly MR exams. The new edition MAGNETOM Concerto continues in this tradition. It is as appealing as ever for patients, but with further innovations to make it even more attractive for you, the medical professional, as well.

What is the field strength of the system?

The field strength is 0.2 tesla, which is regarded as low-field.

Which type of magnet is used to generate the field strength?

It is a C-shaped permanent magnet with a vertical magnetic field. Permanent magnets do not need electrical power as do resistive magnets with cooling systems or superconducting magnets.

What kind of gradient system “plays” in the MAGNETOM Concerto?

It is one of the most powerful gradient systems in low-field MR, with a gradient field strength of 20 mT/m and a slew rate of 40 T/m/sec. For the first time, this powerful system enables a wider range of applications with an open system.

What kind of applications can be carried out with the MAGNETOM Concerto?

MAGNETOM Concerto is full of potential. It is just waiting for you to discover and shape according to your purposes. Here are a few examples of the application range:

Neuro imaging

Short T1 for improved gray/white contrast, better slice coverage and shorter scan times; CISS sequence for high resolution neuro imaging - only from Siemens; diffusion imaging for stroke diagnosis futute software version

Orthopedic imaging

DESS sequence for high resolution orthopedic imaging – a unique application provided only by Siemens; Fat suppression with water excitation sequences and IR sequences

Lung imaging

TrueFISP sequences as an alternative to pediatric x-rays. Scans in less than 5sec.

What kind of operating system is used?

Siemens MRI systems use the syngo operating system (OS). In the future, syngo is to be the standard for all Siemens modalities. This revolutionary new cross-platform software language is developed by Siemens and makes operation simple and intuitive.
