Wythenshawe Hospital, part of the University Hospital of South Manchester NHS Foundation Trust, has been presented with a handheld ACUSON P10™ ultrasound system from Siemens Healthcare. It was won at the British Medical Ultrasound Society (BMUS) show where participants were entered into a prize draw after answering correctly three questions about the P10. The project was provided by Siemens in support of its Caring Hands corporate social responsibility scheme.
Wythenshawe Hospital will be using the P10 for bedside ultrasound services and general imaging. It will also be used for ultrasound teaching sessions with trainee sonographers.
“The digital imaging capabilities and versatility of the system will enhance the treatment of patients at the point of care and will result in a quicker turn around of examinations,” said Gerry Johnson, Lead Sonographer at Wythenshawe Hospital. “I am delighted to have the opportunity to work with the P10 on a regular basis and look forward to using it for teaching purposes.”
The P10 is the first available pocket-sized diagnostic ultrasound screening system, weighing just over 700 grams and capable of image depth from four to 24 cm. It is suitable for a range of applications including obstetrics and gynaecology, emergency medicine and cardiology.
