The Royal Bournemouth Hospital, part of The Royal Bournemouth and Christchurch Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, has officially opened its CT, MR and interventional imaging suites, marking a milestone in the radiology services it can offer patients. Two Artis zee™ interventional systems and two MRI units from Siemens Healthcare were welcomed at an opening event held recently to mark the end to four years of development.
The Artis zee ceiling-mounted angiography imaging systems now in place provide fast, high resolution, multiplanar imaging and rotational CT required for optimum interventional practice.
The MAGNETOM® 1.5 Tesla Avanto and Symphony MRI scanners provide the hospital with static and dynamic imaging for musculoskeletal, cardiac, vascular and cancer related imaging. Clinicians are now benefiting from extremely high image quality, leading to increased diagnostic confidence. With Tim (Total imaging matrix) technology, the Avanto also offers multi-region exams in a single patient set-up and unbeatable acquisition speed.
“The Artis zee angiography systems are incredibly efficient and produce images that give us added confidence. The increased range of functionality and detailed image quality also enable us to extend the range of minimally invasive procedures we can offer patients,” states Dr. David Shepherd, Consultant Interventional Radiologist at The Royal Bournemouth Hospital. “The Siemens Avanto and Symphony MRI systems have also positively assisted our large cardiac and skeletal workload and patients find them less intimidating than before.”
Dr. Shepherd continues, “We have been hugely impressed by the imaging quality and the support from Siemens Healthcare - we look forward to more partnership working on MR scanning sequences and protocols to develop the capabilities further.”
“The versatility of the Siemens imaging solutions in place at The Royal Bournemouth Hospital will help with the swift diagnosis and treatment of patients to bring about the best possible outcomes. This in turn reduces time and anxiety for patients,” states Jane Schwieso, Regional Sales Manager at Siemens Healthcare.
