Hammersmith Hospital, part of Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, has installed two AXIOM Aristos™ MX Digital Radiography (DR) systems from Siemens Healthcare to increase the X-ray capacity of its medical imaging department.
One of the DR systems has been installed for use in the A&E department for trauma cases, the other will add to the hospital’s general radiography capabilities. The new installations complete the process of upgrading the hospital’s imaging suites.
The Aristos MX immediately displays high resolution digital images to speed up the examination process and reduce the need for retakes. The user-friendly system features pre-programmed system positioning, synchronised tube and table movements and motorised table height adjustment. It also incorporates a large, high efficiency DQE flat panel detector. Its syngo® software supports DICOM 3 standards and enables networked communication into existing HIS/RIS*, seamlessly managing information within the clinical environment.
“The Aristos MX was chosen because of its ease of use and the intuitive nature of the accompanying software. Both these factors have greatly reduced the time needed to be set aside for further applications training, which has positive cost implications for the Trust," states Rona Buxton, Acting Service Manager for Hammersmith Hospital’s Imaging Department. “With images instantly available to view, the systems reduce the time a patient has to wait and increase patient throughput.”
“The Aristos MX DR system makes achieving an excellent image first time a reality in a range of imaging scenarios including sites with high levels of staff rotation,” states Gary Cook, Regional Sales Manager at Siemens Healthcare. “Furthermore, intelligent organ programs automatically select kV, AEC chamber and dose per image to provide the lowest possible dose for the highest image quality - this gives patients and clinicians added confidence in the entire imaging process.”
