At this year’s UKRC, Siemens will be showcasing its range of solutions for high quality, personalised patient care on stand number 540. It will include the first UK appearance of the new Definition Flash CT scanner, designed to deliver diagnostic images in a flash at the lowest dose. Offerings in women’s health will also be presented both on the stand and off in an adjacent mobile trailer.
Siemens will also be sponsoring two satellite sessions during the show plus holding daily Continuing Professional Development (CPD) approved training sessions for delegates on its stand covering the following topics:
• Innovations within Mammography - what does the future hold?
• Ultrasound innovations
• The changing trends in fluoroscopy workflow
• Advanced acquisition and post processing techniques for Angiography Radiographers
• Molecular Imaging - improved lesion detectability in the Oncology patient
• Adaptive 4D Spiral CT - more than volume perfusion
• Clinical Application of Dual Energy CT
• MR Diffusion Imaging - overview and applications
• Tim CT including Oncology and Angiography
• Digital Radiography: the first experiences in the ever increasing installed base of Ysio systems
The UKRC ‘CT Cardiovascular Imaging’ satellite session on 8 June will be presented by Dr. Christoph Becker from University Hospitals Munich-Grosshadern in Germany and will offer a review of the current situation in cardiac imaging and discuss future trends. Siemens will also be sponsoring the ‘Multimodality Breast Imaging’ satellite session taking place on 9 June and presented by Dr. Will Teh from Northwick Park Hospital in Middlesex. This lecture will cover the wealth of new technologies in breast imaging today, including MRI, tomosynthesis and ultrasound elastography.
The SOMATOM® Definition Flash, making its debut at UKRC, is a next generation CT designed to combine flash speed at the lowest dose, scanning the heart without beta blockers and lengthy breath holds at a dose below one mSv. The system also eliminates clinically irrelevant dose and introduces for the first time organ-sensitive dose protection.
Other innovations include the MAMMOMAT Inspiration™ full field digital mammography system, prepared for stereotactic biopsy and 3D tomosynthesis. The Inspiration will be showcased in a mobile breast imaging trailer located next to the stand. Other offerings in the women’s health product portfolio will be available to view and discuss further with Siemens representatives on the stand. This will include the ACUSON S2000™ ultrasound system available with eSie Touch™ elasticity breast imaging and the Sentinelle Vanguard MRI coils to improve interventional accuracy and enable shorter examination times. The new coils complement the MAGNETOM® Espree Pink, Siemens’ recently launched MRI.
The Ysio™ digital radiography general X-ray system and ARCADIS® Avantic multi-purpose high-end C-arm will also be on display. Representatives from the Managed Equipment Services (MES) team will also be on hand to discuss the benefits of MES partnerships via real life customer examples and Technical Customer Service (TCS) and Life teams will be available to discuss options for customer support.
The UK Radiological Congress (UKRC) is taking place on 8 – 10 June 2009 at the Manchester Central Conference and Exhibition Centre.
