The Renal Transplant and Nephrology department, part of The Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen University Hospitals NHS Trust is now benefitting from superior images across a range of procedures following the installation of an ACUSON S2000™ ultrasound system from Siemens Healthcare.
The S2000 is a next generation system ergonomically designed for user and patient comfort. It offers extensive functionality and is being used at the hospital for biopsy guidance on native and transplant kidneys and scanning the vessels for blood flow of transplanted kidneys. The system will also assist with guiding the insertion of catheters in patients who require vascular access, examining circulation when performing venous mappings in the upper and lower limbs, investigating blood flow in fistula scanning, scanning the liver when treating cirrhosis and general abdomen imaging.
The S2000 is optimised for high-frequency imaging and delivers 2D, 3D, Colour and Pulse-wave Doppler and 4D images of superior quality to provide exceptional levels of diagnostic confidence for the best possible outcomes. It also includes knowledge-based workflow drawing on an expert database of real clinical cases to recognise anatomical patterns and perform automatic measurements. This aids diagnosis, speeds up examinations and helps keep patient appointments on schedule.
“We are very impressed with the high quality images that the system provides, especially when scanning transplanted kidneys and blood vessel blockages in those who require vascular access,” states Illa Sodha, Superintendent Sonographer at The Royal Liverpool University Hospital. “The calculation packages are also fantastic for looking at the volume of fluid flow in vessels too, allowing us to perform highly accurate and swift ultrasound scans.”
“We are delighted that The Royal Liverpool University Hospital has chosen one of our premier ultrasound systems,” states Bernadette Leonard, Regional Sales Manager for Ultrasound Products at Siemens Healthcare. “The extensive functionality of the S2000 makes it an ideal solution for a wide range of applications and with the knowledge-based workflow it ensures a high level of diagnostic confidence.”
