The Managed Equipment Service (MES) at Russells Hall Hospital, part of the Dudley Group of Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, has enabled the completion of a new fluoroscopy room featuring an AXIOM Luminos™ TF system from Siemens Healthcare. It will be used for general and gastro intestinal procedures. A second room, which houses an AXIOM Iconos™ R200 fluoroscopy system, has also gone live this month.
The Dudley Group of Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is in its seventh year of an MES partnership with Siemens Healthcare. The vendor independent contract looks after the maintenance, supply and ongoing replacement of all imaging equipment until 2041. The partnership assisted with a smooth installation, training of hospital staff, technical support and construction of the new buildings to house the equipment. This enabled the Trust to gain rapid access to the latest technology without compromising on patient care. This strategic approach to medical equipment also ensures that modern procedures can be offered to patients and that equipment uptime is maximised.
“We are pleased to be able to offer patients advanced fluoroscopy treatment in the specially built new suites. The equipment has enabled us to achieve excellent patient images during general and gastro intestinal procedures,” states Jane Leech, Senior Radiographer at the Dudley Group of Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
“The long term partnership between Siemens Healthcare and The Dudley Group of Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has enabled swift access to modern imaging technology without impacting on patient care,” states David Cooper, PFI Operations Manager at Siemens Healthcare. “The MES has significantly assisted with the entire process, from budget planning, building construction and installation, right up to staff training and the future equipment maintenance.”
The Luminos TF is designed for a complete spectrum of patient profiles, from paediatric to bariatric, with an accommodating table and open design. The second room contains an AXIOM Iconos R200 system, further extending the fluoroscopy service on offer to local patients. The flexible Iconos R200 is available for universal applications, providing excellent image quality and low dose.
