The Society of Radiologists in Training (SRT) recently held its academic meeting at the Medical Sciences Teaching Centre in Oxford. The annual event attracts speakers from across the breadth of the profession and provides an opportunity to discuss issues relating to radiology training and education. Siemens Healthcare was a key supporter at this year’s meeting.
“The meeting aims to provide a forum for education and support for radiology trainees in what is a rapidly changing environment,” said Robin Proctor, President of the SRT. “Continuing professional development is a key part of radiology training and this meeting gives delegates access to leading medical opinion across imaging modalities and specialist areas. A meeting of broad appeal is vital to ensure we cover the many varied and exciting aspects of the profession.”
The event featured educational talks aimed at radiology trainees from speakers across the medical community. Subjects ranged from interventional radiology to thoracic imaging, plus body CT and MRI. Speeches were supplemented by an exhibition featuring posters from delegates across the UK and Ireland on a wide range of imaging subjects.
“The society is a vital resource for trainee radiologists looking to broaden their knowledge base and Siemens is delighted to be able to support its annual meeting,” said David Wilkins, National Sales Manager at Siemens Healthcare.
The SRT is run by an elected committee of radiology trainees to promote radiology education and training in the UK and Ireland. It was founded in 1993 and is open to all radiologists in training. Its 17th annual meeting will take place in summer 2010.
