Northern General Hospital, one of five hospitals which make up Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, has installed the Siemens Medical Solutions’ MAGENTOM Avanto to help with its workload. The new equipment was unveiled by Clinton Woods, IBF World Light Heavy Weight champion.
The new equipment will help develop cardiac, vascular, small bowel and defacting proctogram studies. It will also help improve patient throughput which will reduce waiting lists at the hospital.
MAGNETOM Avanto, the world’s first Tim MRI system, provides unsurpassed image quality, enhanced productivity, and greater patient comfort. The Tim Application Suite has a complete range of clinically optimised examinations for all regions. Excellent head-to-toe imaging can be accomplished with the sequences and features included in this application suite.
Andrew Prydderch, MRI Manager at the Northern General Hospital, said: “This hospital operates the only major adult A&E department in Sheffield, so it is imperative that we give them the best possible chance to deal with any eventuality. As a leading teaching hospital, purchasing the Siemens’ Avanto has significantly improved our studies, particularly in cardiac and vascular which our previous scanner did not offer us.”
Sarah Sandhu, Regional Sales Manager at Siemens Medical Solutions, said: “As a teaching hospital, it is imperative for Northern General Hospital that it has the best technology and the clearest images available to provide the best research outcomes. The installation of the MAGNETOM Avanto will provide Northern General with a tremendous resource for research in all areas. “
