As part of an ongoing relationship between Barking, Havering & Redbridge Hospitals NHS Trust and Siemens, staff at Queens Hospital and Oldchurch Hospital in Romford are pleased not only with their new multi-system installation, but the excellent on-site support received. The latest systems comprised thirteen ACUSON Antares, Premium Edition, an ACUSON Cypress and a SONOLINE G40 ultrasound system, for use within the A&E, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Theatre, Radiology and Vascular departments.
Commenting on the choice of G40 system for critical patients, Dr Syed Masud, Specialist Registrar, explained: “As a modern teaching hospital, we provide emergency ultrasound for a wide range of critical conditions; the new system is proving invaluable and we plan to expand the service by training more staff in the use of ultrasound for emergency management. It’s thanks to our Consultants who had the foresight to recognise the benefits of this incredible diagnostic tool, without whose support this purchase would not have been possible”.
The G40 system has proved its ease of use with A&E staff using it for a vast range of examinations required in such a department, ranging from abdominal trauma and cardiac arrest to the detection of foreign bodies. The new system has been used successfully at Oldchurch Hospital until December when it was transferred to the A&E department at Queens Hospital.
