In compiling the list, Modern Healthcare editors selected 25 female healthcare executives who are making a positive difference in the industry, honoring women who are leading healthcare systems, corporations, government agencies, philanthropic organizations and professional associations.

As chief nursing informatics officer for Siemens Healthcare, Kennedy manages the clinical vision of the company’s Information Technology division, where she provides leadership and mentoring to individuals working on clinical applications to ensure that Siemens provides solutions that enhance nursing practice through technology across the continuum of care. With 20+ years of experience in healthcare information technology, she remains one of the most influential pioneers in the Nursing Informatics field, having worked with healthcare organizations to deploy innovative technologies that have helped the organizations increase clinical efficiencies.
Earlier this year, Kennedy also received the HIMSS 2008 Nursing Informatics Leadership Award, recognizing her continued leadership in the Nursing Informatics field, along with her significant contributions to the nursing profession, the Society, their organizations, and the healthcare IT profession as a whole. In November 2008, she was inducted as a Fellow in to the American Academy of Nursing (AAN).
