TranSON® enables the secure transmission of patient data and the secure access to hospital systems.
It is a software-based IT security product designed to encrypt lines for non-secure networks. The current version 1.4.2 is an improved software, based on version 1.4 which has been certified by the German federal agency ‘Bundesamt für Sicherheit in der Informationstechnik’ as "ITSEC E3 high".
In healthcare, a growing need arises for accessing patient files electronically, flexibly and from differing locations. Patient data is confidential information; its transmission must hence be secure and its integrity ensured. Only authorized and authenticated persons may access this information. In addition, their access must be logged.
These requirements also apply to the administration and remote maintenance of hospital systems. TranSON with its components meets these requirements. Physically separated users can be securely connected to Intranet applications such as Soarian® via open networks, and service personnel can access the systems.
All accesses are encrypted transparently for the user with the most possible security, and connection partners can for instance be identified using digital ID cards.
TranSON hence protects patient data and hospital systems effectively, without the security measures having to be installed and managed on the resources themselves. Single Sign-On functionality simplifies the administration of the application server-specific login information. In addition, role-based access is supported to grant users access to applications as defined by the security policy. Detailed logging of all activities facilitates the tracking of system activities and enables dressing statistics, reports and calculations.
The TranSON product family
TranSON Security Proxy provides end-to-end encryption based on SSL v3.0/TLS v1.0, enables confidentiality and integrity of the TCP/IP data flow and supports user certificates on smart cards.
TranSON Audit Server logs the activities of all TranSON components in a database.
TranSON Audit Monitor displays the log database of the audit server
TranSON Certification Authority generates key pairs and certificates and stores these to smart cards.
TranSON Authorization Server manages the user profiles for the role-based access to the application servers and controls access based on the defined user profiles.
