End-to-end tool for the entire medication process
i.s.h.med* medication integrates the entire clinical medication process into the hospital information system, from the electronic ordering, pick and fill lists, through to the administration documentation. It therefore represents a unique end-to-end tool for this highly sensitive area of medicine.
One of the central components of the treatment process is the ordering, preparation, and administration of drugs. Practically all treatment processes involve some form of medicinal therapy. The omnipresence and frequency of medication events, together with their unbelievable variety, provide a great potential for errors.
Should the patient be given tablets to take home? Should an analgesic or insulin pump be periodically refilled? Should infusion bags be replaced, as required, to guarantee a specific flow rate in relation to the patient's weight and height? All questions to which i.s.h.med has the answers.
A quick view of the core functionalities:
When you create a medication order for a patient, the system displays the patient’s complete drug history. Clinical checking based on the drug catalog used can be integrated to provide drug-to-drug interactions. Order templates and user favorites support this process in a very user-friendly way. After saving the medication order, the system creates worklist events for the nurses and/or pharmacists to administer or prepare.
With the medication module, you once again benefit from the advantages of integration with other SAP modules: The interlacing of the clinical pharmacist’s work steps with the stock inventory and procurement processes achieves end-to-end process support that can extend from the manufacturer through to the bed of the patient as a "customer“.
