Networking and documentation
Integration of the urology department into the hospital network is achieved with the Siemens’ ARCADIS C-arms:
Shockwave system Cplus
An efficient shockwave technology is the key to successful stone therapy. The MODULARIS lithotripsy module uses the patented shockwave system Cplus – designed for effective and painless treatment, fast elimination of stones and low retreatment rates.
Clear advantages of the Siemens shockwave head Cplus:
Highly efficient
Due to the high stone-free rates and very low retreatment rates (less than 6%), the Cplus is particularly economical. This is made possible by the high acoustic energy of up to 101 mJ (ER = 6 mm) – incidentally the only parameter that permits actual statements on the stone disintegration performance of a lithotripter.
In vitro plaster sphere test: Energy or pressure – what is it that destroys the stone?
An in vitro test with plaster spheres demonstrates that the energy is the only parameter that allows actual statements on the disintegration performance of a lithotripter. Both plaster spheres were targeted with 1000 shock waves with a positive peak pressure of 20 MPa. The left stone was targeted with an energy of 0.3, the right stone with an energy of 5 mJ per shot. This simple experiment clearly demonstrates that it is not the pressure that is important, but the energy alone.
Tissue-sparing
Cplus delivers low pressure (57 MPa) even at the maximum energy level, allowing an even more tissue-sparing treatment. In general there is only a small, if any, correlation between the disintegration of stones and the pressure caused by a shockwave system. It is, however, assumed that the pressure is responsible, among other things, for tissue damage. Which is why we have optimized the pressure of the Cplus system.
Reliable
The focus size with typical energy levels used in stone treatment allows a statement on the reliability and safety of stone disintegration. The large shockwave focal with up to 13 mm mostly compensates for stone migration caused by respiration – nearly every shot hits the target.
Economical
Cplus is the longest-lasting electromagnetic shockwave system for lithotripsy available on the market. The shockwave head with a guaranteed 1.5 million shots is an innovation that helps you save costs.
