Cardinal MRI Center had been doing Breast MR examinations since 1997. It was in 2005 when they acquired MAGNETOM Avanto. Avanto overcome the previous limitations of their MAGNETOM Vision system with its high gradient, improved coil technology, parallel imaging capabilities and inline post processing software. With all these benefits their MR breast workflow improved tremendously.

According to Dr. Tan:
 MRI mammography is now a mature and robust imaging technique.
 Clinical applications are many; for screening high-risk individuals, problem-solving for difficult mammography and sonography cases, patients with bloody discharge or metastatic disease with unknown primary, local staging and whole-body metastatic work-up, evaluation of treatment response, and work-up for recurrent tumor.
 When properly added to the routine diagnostic armamentarium, MRI is of great benefit
