Patient is a 62 year old male with a history of a liver transplant two years ago for cirrhosis. The patient is currently taking Cyclosporin, an anti-rejection drug. His transplant was a success. He denies any smoking or drinking.
The patient was asymptomatic and agreed to an ultrasound exam of his Carotid arteries for a photo shoot. During the ultrasound exam a mass was found near the left carotid bifurcation measuring 4.5 x 2.9 x 1.7cm. The mass did have vascular flow throughout.
The patient had a CT exam was referred for an Ear Nose and Throat exam. The ENT exam confirmed a mobile neck mass, several palpable lymph nodes, auditory canals and tympanic membranes normal, and oral cavity and tonsilar fossa negative. A fiberoptic endoscopy was performed revealing a lesion. A biopsy was scheduled and performed.
